If you don't like hotkeys, I wouldn't advise playing a lock. Well, pve you could get away with clicking I suppose, I don't pve really though so I can't comment. Locks have the most spells for any caster, and we use all of them at some point, they all have thier situational importance.
I use 16 hotkeys. I use e, s, d, f for movement, and g for target nearest enemy. I use q, w, r, t, y, a, h, z, x, c, v, b, mouse wheel up, mouse wheel down, and middle mouse button for my most used abilities. The rest of my situational spells (things like drain soul, seed of corruption, and fel domination) I click. I use bartender 4 so my buttons I click are in the most optimal places.
You can't, and I stress
CAN NOT
, try to point and click your way through pvp and expect to be good. PvP is just too fast paced to be clicking on things, and you have to use your mouse to turn or you won't have enough mobility. If you plan on doing any pvp whatsoever you have to learn to use key binds.
I understand the difficulty, I come from playing console games my entire life, x-box controlls are a completely different world from computer controls. I suggest trying my above key layout, it works great for me, I never liked using 1234567890-=. But whatever you decide, key binds will make you a better player, on any class, not just locks.

Try SPriest. Thats litterally 7 buttons. You can hot key them, but your still only using 5 while fighting. I use 1-7 for my general attack spells, but I click on others like Bubble of buffing. Also, I have macros that have alot of my buffs condensed, like Fort and the big Fort are both one button with a left/right click dependency.
For the most part however, there are somethings that need to be done fast, and you cant just click for them. You just have to deal with it. :(

1.) Whats the best lock spec for DPS?
Read the stickes:

and
http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&topic=54456
2.) How many hotkeys (Spells, etc) will I need to use during combat?
Depends in spec and PvE or PvP, Meta/Ruinn builds are the simplest in PvE:
Send pet, CoD, Corr, Immo, SB. Repeat SB till it is time to refresh a dot. Occasionally may need to do pet managment, pop trinkets/meta when CD is up.
To get good DPS with affliction you will have a minimum of 7 spells to keep up.
To get good DPS with Destro it if 5-7 depending on exact spec
3.) Do you reccomend this class to a beginner?
Yes and No. Yes, if you want to coast along as a mediocre player. No, if you want to be a good(or even excellent) player. I have raided as both a lock and a rogue, I have always found the lock to be more challenging.
In the end, you should just roll one and play it to about level 30 or so. Then you can see if you like it or not, that is the most important thing.
