Not so new but still dont understand

I have been playing for 2 years only 1 as a priest, but i still dont understand. Im not good as Holy, dis, and my Dps isnt up to par. I havent played for a while but i shouldnt I be better. Im tired of going into dungeons and dying, I let everyone down when I try to heal. I How can I become better. I love playing as a priest, I just want to be good at it. I want my main spec to be DPS and my second well which ever is best at healing for raids.
