Also keep in mind that Northrend BoE greens & blues start showing up on the AH at 65/66, and it's as much an upgrade to Outlands gear as Outlands gear is to Azeroth gear.

Or you can level to 70 in Outlands, get epic flying, then continue leveling to 74 in Outlands by finishing all the quests there, on easy-mode with Northrend greens.

Then level to 77 in Borean Tundra, get Cold Weather Flying, and only spend 3 levels and 1 zone without flying ability.

You don't need to spend alot on the AH, just get one complete set of Northrend greens at 65/66, and save everything else for epic flying. Helps if you first train up two gathering professions first too.

I did that, and did BT, HF, and hit 80 about halfway through Dragonblight, leaving Grizzly Hills, Zul'Drak, Sholazar, Storm Peaks, and Ice Crown quests for extra gold.

I couldn't imagine spending 9 levels (68-77) on a ground mount, when you can get to 80 faster and have tons of quests for money left over to recoup your epic flying costs by getting to 74 in Outland first.

You can if you first hit 74 in Outlands by finishing all but the 5-man group quests there. If you do that, you can hit 77 in Borean Tundra (and Coldara, which I tend to consider part of BT).

I did, it was nice. Just 3 lvls and 1 zone without epic flying, and BT isn't too bad a zone for a land mount. Lots of fp's, and mobs spread out so you're rarely in danger of getting dismounted, and only about 3 caves or buildings you have to go into.
