Your pet will grow in size as it grows in level til you hit level 70 and it has grown to whatever is appropriate for its species.

I personally thought it humorous to watch my pet owl shrink considerably in size when i tamed it.

If you think that's shrinkage, go to Sunken Temple and tame one of the 20 foot tall windserpents. ^o^
