Base stats will not make any difference once you get into your teens (about the time you'll have an all green set); you shouldn't be stacking a whole lot of spirit early on as there aren't many talents until you hit about lvl 30 (

For leveling your primary stats are gonna be stamina and spellpower.

The stats are the same for everyone... what really changes is the racial spells :)
If you are going to be ally roll human if you want more spirit and a reputation boost (and an anti-fear tricket).
Otherwise go for a Night Elf... shadowmeld is just too confortable :)

Racial Spells and Looks should affect your choices the most...
