Proper etiquette when recruiting for a guild? (and more!)

Well, I've got my guild going on Moon Guard.
The theme: We're exorcists, working for the right price, training to be the best at what we do
Here's the thing: We're currently just me the GM, and the four initial members who signed the charter.
I have ideas how to recruit, but unsure if it's proper etiquette or not.
1. A friendly advertisement on trade, general, or lfg chat that gets the message across and not frequent to the point of being spam.
2. Roleplay recruitment at an appropriate place that has people in it.
I guess I'm here to confirm...is this how most guilds do it or rather should do it?
And are there other ways that work just as well or better?
Thank you!

No expert on this, but I'd say, as you're consciously considering what would be appropriate and what not, you can't do much wrong if you follow your intuition.

Remember to put an ad up on the guild recruitment tool too. I found a couple good guilds since they implemented that, but if you're not there, no one will find you with it.

Thank you for the input, guys! :D
I hope this is okay, but I'd like to add another question instead of creating a whole new thread, since this is also guild related.
What are some good ways to implement pve with rp?
I have the story setup, I just need to figure out how to use the game environment to my advantage.
Perhaps send guild members on missions appropriate for their level with a story behind it?

I would probably spam a macro that is concise and to the point every 10 minutes or something. If you want to recruit, I'd go through as many of the populated zones as possible (being a mage has significant benefit here). Zones that fit this are starting zones, capital cities, and Hellfire Peninsula. You can use /who to help with it.
2. Roleplay recruitment at an appropriate place that has people in it.
If you want to do this, I guess try using say chat in crowded areas periodically? Make it really sound legit =).

You should read the back issues of the
Officer's Quarters
column on Wowinsider. They may be of some use. Also, the author of the column has written a book about Guild Leadership and offers many of the chapters (or parts thereof) for free. He covers just about everything regarding guilds; recruiting, structure, mission, conflict resolution, constitutions etc.
