Does anyone have any guidance on what race is best suited to be a druid?
I'm thinking Tauren since they have high spirit and attack, but I want to hear what other people think

Well, race doesn't matter at all, the only thing you can ask is this: what do you want to see when you are not in animal form (whichever spec you are)

1: a Big ass Bull?

Race does matter, its 2% less chance to be hit + shadowmeld (<3) vs 5% (i think) more hp and stun. I'd take first anytime...

I agree, although biased on my female nelf druid, there's something immensely pleasing about smelding and ressing the group after a bad pull.

I didn't even know about the changes to smeld until I was 80, but jebus.. AMAZING racial.

Shadowmeld is so ridiculous. IMO it nearly trumps everything in terms of racial activate-able abilities as far as their broad usability goes. It also seems to be quite good for a Druid tank especially. As the tank of a group, I can now perform wipe recovery as not only do I keep the massive boss on me while people rip it to shreds, I can also rez the whole group if I can get out of combat with Shadowmeld.

The -2% to be hit thing is also quite amazing if you're looking to tank ... it would take 242 Defense Rating to achieve an equivalent amount of miss.
