Rare Spawns- your stories

I was landing in Nagrand the other day and a beast agro'd on me (I thought it was just a normal-rude voidwalker) but it was an elite, Voidhunter, a rare spawn. I was just passing through and half thought to keep going but I decided to hit back. Already taking damage I popped moonkin and blasted away. What a fight as we both kept closer to death I was able to pot heal and invenerate and kill the punk.

*poof*

I get the achievement for killing a rare spawn and a nice marketable blue item.
Granted this was not the first time I've run across a rare spawn but it was the first time I took one on.

Any one else got any rare spawn stories?

I killed a mob called Tukemuth in Dragonblight the day before yesterday. A guildy of mine found the mob, but couldnt solo it, so i helped him and got the achievement + some blue BoE boots ^^ . Never found any myself though :/

I used to farm Rares with my hunter on lower levels. Had 1 Rare in se part of Barrens in dwarven fortress, and a hell lot of them in Stonetalon Mountains: Wyvern near the lake, Harpy and Treant in the burned forest south west and a lot of in and near the caves at north-western part (near the ally post), 2-3 in goblin camp, 1 in goblin mine. Boy i was so happy with all the items i found and the experience beating those gave me.

I once found a Werewolf in Ashenvale, but never ever met him after. Boy he dropped a magical helmet. At that level head slot items were pretty rare, magical head slot items were like....awesome. Thats why i kept going there every little time i got there but as i said i never met him again.

Later i rerolled warrior. Used to do a lot of quests in Hillsbrad/Alterac and found this flying around http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=2447. I burned all cds, used all pots and.... he beat the %^&* out of me anyway... when i got back to body he wasnt there any more. I doubt anyone at that level could handle him, so i guess he just teleported away.

I found Olm the Wise in Fellwood too. Took me some time to figure out how to attack it (wowhead comments helped), but didint got anything good from it. Too bad i wasnt on the hunter at that time. I got the owl, but the ordinary felwood one instead.

Next few are in Outlands. And quite funny too.
My first encounter, an NPC on the main road in Terokkar Forest. I was like wtf, i must attack him fast, there is so many players around... Was this guy: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18686. I cant say it was easy, i interrupted a few spellcasts, broke fear with zerker rage. I got some mail healer boots i eventually sold on AH for a few pennies.

I did most of the Blade Edge quests (a few group ones left for achievement i guess), and while doing the ghost haunting quest in ogre shacks i found this guy: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18693. I attacked him so fast that i actually had to fight him and an add, but i suceeded. I had some experience with warlock rares after the above one, so i knew what to expect. Looted... and got 1 shoted by a SP/lock ally. He corpse camped me after, but didnt succeed (too many places to rez safely), i guess he was mad at me for stealing the rare...
Got some nice leather gloves of it, i put AP enchant on them and send to my rogue friend. He had some motivation to level faster, haha.

Another funny moment was after the achievements went live and i was going back to Hellfire on my mage to actually get some instance quests done there. When i was riding to stone i got the achievement, lol. It seems someone of my instance group killed something rare in the vicinity of Hellfire Citadel.

Last one is after wotlk comes out. Outand gets totally deserted, if you doesnt count the legions of DKs running around. Normal mana tombs or whatever i get to stone first a see something red labeled in the distance inside the Ring of Observance. And its moving.
I was like, wtf is that. An ally DK or something? I target and notice its a rare spawn. I get to it, and solo it without a problem on my ele shammy. Got very strange ring out of that. Boy he does look scary: http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18689#screenshots:id=58580

I found some rare elites in Barrens once too. Ticked me off. They were friendly to me, so I couldn't kill them. Doh!

that said, I did happen to find a rare in the Pools in northern Hellfire. This was before the achievements yet. I like how rares are actually rare now. before, I found them all over the place in Azeroth. Outlands actually became hard to find them, the way it should be.

Lastly, there is a rare elte in Aszura (sp). It's an earth elemental that drops a really nice shield. Unfortiantely, I couldn't sell the shield for much, as it was a lvl 49, where many people aren 't worrying about geaaring up in blues. :(

Was questing last week on my Pally in Storm Peaks, at the time he was lvl 77. I'm in the end of a cave when I read in General Chat.
/1 LFM to Help Kill Rare Spawn(Get an achievement!)

I join up. Eventually make my way out of the cave and group up with the rest.(3 others)
We down him, he's only got 18K health. Easily solo'able by the original group leader.

3 Items drop.
One of them being:
Reigns of the Time-Lost Proto Drake

I win the roll for everything.

I felt bad for the group leader who could have done it by himself not knowing the mob was just a rare, not rare elite.
So I give him the 2 other items and of course keep the mount to use at lvl 80.

Now I get tons of wsp on where, how , when I got it. Even have people wanting me to help them get it.

Flying over to Gruuls lair to summon a latejoiner for the Ogri'la prequests and "*poof* medium rare achievement". Still don't know which rare mob my partymembers killed several 100 yards lower, but don't mind either :)

Found a rare spawn dragon near Ogri'la a few weeks later but once I found out he was fire immune, my pre FFB fire mage stopped trying.

I was playing with my cousin, doing quests in Shadowmoon (this was after 3.0, so achievements are in). I'm flying to some Adamantite or something, when he says "Woah, who's that big guy?"

I couldn't think of any big guys in the area we were, so I excitedly ask "Quick! Does he have a silver dragon around his name plate?"

"Yeah, why?"

"TAG IT! TAG IT!" So we kill it... some giant infernal... forget the name, and we get our Medium Rare achievement. :D

of course. why wouldnt we? spawns every day, twice a day. I know 3 people with the mount already. If you cant find it someones killed and got their mount. The number of ppl looking will gradually get lower and lower.

Youll see it eventually.

wish I knew when it spawned :) been camping it along with tons of others....

Well you can depending out if this still works. As soon as the servers come back on all rare mobs are respawned so try then.(Again they could have changed this)
