No I do not think that you can get anymore than one of each of the rares. There is exactly 20 rares in the game, and the Professer title requires you to get every single one of them.

I also know that you will not repeat the same item from a race until you have recieved all items of that rarity. This means that you'll get all of the commons before repeating common.
This is not true. I have gotten the same common item more than once without having completed every common item for that race.
I have been farming for that stupid trinket like crazy. And I've gotten every single common night elf item repeatedly, but never gotten any duplicates of the same rares on the same character.
