Resilience as a tank stat?

I'd like some opinions on this, whether or not resilience can be considered a suitable alternative to becoming uncrittable until you reached the defense cap.
I was ditched in a PuG because I have 521 def but 103 resilience which makes me uncrittable while taking a few losses in the block/dodge/parry range.

So a ilvl 245 with +hit, +resil, lots of stam and comparable armor is no good to a tank?
I've been so confused.

^^^^^^ truth.
PvP gear is fine as a new 80. If you want to raid as a tank? Replace it.
This sums it very well. 1% dodge will fare you better than 0.5% damage reduction via armor, etc, etc.

Using pvp gear as a tank went out when they change survival of the fittest to give 6% reduced chance to be crit (druid talent). For other classes and nowadays it just shows an unwillingness to get properly geared to me personally

That wasn't the question though. "whether or not resilience can be considered a suitable alternative to becoming uncrittable until you reached the defense cap."
Yes, resilience is a suitable alternative to becoming uncrittable until you reach the defense cap.
iLvl 200 PvP chest
. This chest gives 0.72% crit reduction, which is the same crit reduction given by 18 Defense Skill or 88 Defense Rating. That 88 Defense Rating would give ~2% avoidance. Comare the PvP chest to a similar tanking time (
T7 Warrior Chest
). The PvP chest gives 0.33% more crit reduction, but the actual tanking piece gives ~2% pre-DR avoidance (and ~2.70% block rating). The PvP chest also has 22 more stamina than the tanking piece.
Of course tanking pieces are preferable to PvP pieces. But he asked if PvP gear can be a suitable stand-in for a real tanking piece if you are under the defense cap. The answer is yes, yes it can be.

The problem with PvP gear is that it is without a doubt for PvP. While PvE gear is.. you guessed it! PvE.
The plain facts are pve gear is better for pve while pvp remains top for pvp.
So while tanking and dps is perfectly possable in pvp gear, you arent at the peak of your performance becouse of poor gear choices, and 99 times out of100 this is reflected on the dps charts. (or in your case how much healing the healers are doing) Which brings up the next issue. While healers can probably keep you alive they have to spend extra time and mana healing you that could be spent getting someone else toped off.
Just face it, to be good at pve you need pve gear, its really not that hard to get anyways.

As a DK tank with 540 def already, which would you choose out of these two?
Relentless Gladiator Greaves of Triumph
or
Kyzoc's Ground Stompers

Depends on if you think 70 stamina is worth trading for 117 combined avoidance ratings (2.75% pre-DR avoidance).
Gem wise, 20 def/dodge/parry rating is worth 30 stamina (1 rating for 1.5 stamina). For chest enchant, 22 defense is equated to ~23 stamina (1 rating for 1.05 stamina). For shield enchant, 20 defense if worth 18 stamina (1 rating for 0.9 stamina). The lower that number goes, the more reluctant one should be to "make the trade."
In your question you have 70 Stamina compared to a total of 117 combined Dodge/Parry/Defense rating. That's 1 rating for 0.60 stamina.
So no, I would not use the 245 PvP piece to tank with over the 213 Boots. Stamina is good and important, but avoidance is good and important too and I don't think 70 stamina trumps 117 avoidance ratings.
(Note: Yes I know I'm not addressing the armor difference. Yes I know I'm ignoring the strength and crit difference. Yes I know I'm not even touch DR effects. I however stand by my thought process and conclusion.)

Mostly because these are the DKs that "aren't specced for D&D" when asked why they aren't using it or Paladins who say "Consecration takes too much mana" etc etc.
Consecration uses too much mana, and RF is for scrubs.
:P
(I'm kidding if anyone takes this seriously)
