I have a few questions for you fellow tank-a-licious Druids out there. What raid bosses require mass amounts of resistance gear to be able to tank properly? I don't know much of any leather resist gear for say, Hydross, so I don't think that I would be tanking him due to the Warrior/Pally be better off with Wild/Iceguard armor.
Or are Druids not really used for tanking during heavy resist encounters?

Mother Shahraz requires 365 Shadow Resist (cap) for everyone in the raid except the main tank, who requires 0 SR. Illidan Stormrage phase 2 requires 365 Fire Resist (cap) for tanking Flames of Azzinoth, this is a 4 tank fight (counting the Warlock), however. Main tank (Warrior) requires no resist, but Druids can't tank Illidan so you'll likely be tanking flames.
Since the resist sets for Mother Shahraz are an unavoidable mechanic, there is epic quality crafted SR gear, with the recipes available through an Ashtongue Deathsworn reputation vendor inside Black Temple. The crafted pieces (including cloak) and your necklace for becoming attuned to Black Temple will cap you. The FR is another matter, you will need the 4 epic quality Heroic Badge pieces, a
(most likely) that you can socket, an FR neck (I use the one from the chain in SMV), the ring from SSC/TK attune line (which I do not have and have found I do not need), and
is the best FR cloak in the game, even though it is a green quality item.
the only time a druid cant tank illidan is when he uses shear. any other phase where shear is not used can be tanked by a druid with no problem.
Illidan uses Shear in all non-Demon phases in which he can be tanked, thusly he can not be tanked by a Druid.
Phase 1: Illidan Stormrage alone, uses Shear, Draw Soul, and Flame Crash.
Phase 2: Illidan Stormrage is in flight, untankable, throws down his glaives and 2 Flames of Azzinoth spawn which are tanked by 2 tanks in full FR (one or both of which can be Druids).
Phase 3: Repeat phase 1, with the addition of Demon Phase.
Phase 4: Demon Phase, tanked by a Warlock, as anyone in melee range gets hit by Illidan's aura.
Phase 5: Repeat phase 1/3 & phase 4 with the addition of Maiev Shadowsong.
