Even a full raid resto build, you dont need more than 42 points in the
resto tree. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0ZZxVcxcq0eot
You'll rarely use HT being a tree druid, and use tranquility even less than
that. No point in waisting talent points in improving either spell.
Even some of those 42 points arnt even really needed. Like Natures
Focus, and Living Spirit. You shouldnt be taking dmg to need to prevent
spells from casting, and in the rare case you do, you can always pop
barkskin. And the +healing and +mana regen from the +15% spirit is

I have been tinkering with the restoration spec to find a worthwhile spec for raiding and farming. The only one I have come up with that doesn't involve the feral tree is 11/0/50, and I was curious what the denizens of my class would have to say on this matter.http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0xcbzZZxEctcqMeot
Here are my thoughts on this issue:
People seem to say that if you're going Resto, pick up a set of spell dmg gear to farm in. Here's why I disagree:
1. Resto offers bonuses to melee combat through Naturalist, Furor, OOC, and Intensity. It doesn't even come close to this with helping out Balance spells, only giving you Intensity (which isn't even a dmg bonus) and Natural Perfection (3% spell crit chance = pretty weak, imo).
2. With 18 or 19 points in feral, you get 10% armor bonus, 6% crit, and our combo point multiplier and free rage generator, Primal Fury, as well as a Dmg mitigation = 4% dodge, and reduced lacerate cost and energy decrease for shred.
I'll post more later, but if you have to have a resto set and a spell dmg set, why not just have a feral set instead? I think you get a lot more bonus from a combo of resto and feral than resto and balance:http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0ZxMGsbbZVxcucq0eot
