wow, how about you do your research first, then ask a focused question instead of like 7 in one post. Its cool to ask questions, i'm all for it, but try to get the answers for yourself first. I'm positive there are previous posts that have answered all of these questions.

Chinky, wow, how about instead of making a reply that has nothing to do with the question, you just don't respond. The OP doesn't care about what you think, he wants answers to his questions. I can't believe you would respond and not even help at all. I hate it when people do that. You are offtopic, a troll, and an #$%^&*!. Please delete your response Chinky. You could have at least told the OP how or where to search for an answer, but no, you had to put the OP down for asking a question. Maybe you should think that some people have lives to live and don't spend all day looking at a message board like you do. Now, back on topic.
I think Strength is the most important stat for a ret pally. I hear you also want to get your hit rating up to 290, but some people don't think it needs to be that high (I'm not sure what it needs to be). Then you want to focus on crit.
This seems like an utter over-reaction. Chinky was correct that this topic, as most topics, has been covered before ad naseum. For instance, this poster asked...again...the question of SoC vs SoB. This is covered in AT LEAST three other threads in the first page here on the Paladin forums.
We have to do a fair amount of self-policing here. One way is to politely inform new people that searching old threads for their answers is not only helpful, but actually works.

SoC=solo/pvp/grinding
SoB=instance/raid dps
Hit cap is 9% unless it's been changed. If you have a draenei in group, it's 8% because of heroic presence.
Pick up expertise when you can. It's a rare stat, and needed as mobs can dodge from behind. If you have any expertise, you are ahead of the curve on consistant dps.
Crit over haste all day long. Every piece of your armor will have strength on it. I'll take a Str/crit piece with 10-12 str less than a Str/haste piece most of the time(like, the heroic blue head vs 10 man hero T7 head, which is garbage IMO)

Absolutely right, but you came off a little mean...

Give that a good read, will ya? It will give you more information than any of us can in a post.
Use SoB for PvE. Better damage. Period.
Also, basic guide to gearing:
1. Get hit over 160 (abut 5% hit)
2. Stack Strength
That's it. Everything else will come with gear naturally. maxdps.com is a good guideline.
Hope this helps.
