Check your route to the server. It sounds like you're having connection issues to the datacenter your new server is on.
- windows key + R
- cmd and hit enter
- start wow, go to the character select screen
- alt-tab to the command window
- type "netstat -a" and hit enter (no quotes)
- copy down the foreign address that ends in :3724
- alt-tab, close wow.
- type "tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" and hit enter (no quotes, fill in the x's with the ip address you wrote down before. Do not include the :3724)
- Look for a line that looks like this: "* * * sometext.sometext.sometext ", "hugenumber hugenumber hugenumber sometext.sometext.sometext " or "* * * Request timed out."
If you see lots of *'s in your tracert, it means you're getting dropped packets on that hop. This drastically increases your ping, which will cause disconnects. Also look for server hops that show large delays (the three numbers represent the time it takes to talk with that particular hop). Lastly, look for hops that are completely unresponsive (3 *'s and "request timed out") these mean you couldn't talk to that hop at all
and are likely what's causing your disconnects.NOTE: You WILL see "request timed out" at the end of the traceroute. This is the border of Blizzard's data center, and their internal routers are set to not to respond to tracert requests, so they show up as unresponsive. This is normal.
This is what a GOOD
tracert should look like:
