Shadow Priest Lacking

Hey there! So I recently got my priest to 85 and have been working on getting him geared and what not. I still notice that I am going oom on trash fights and sometimes on bosses, even when I used all my cooldowns and ways to return mana. I'm really feel a bit disappointed in how shadow priests are working. I just wanted to ask you all, what could I be doing wrong and are enchants really that important so that I can improve my mana regen? I am doing well dps wise not the highest, but not the least. I'm just trying to finish working on gears before enchanting, I'm also slightly reconsidering another range class. Any tips?

Shadow gains more mana back from raid encounters Due to the Masochism talent which restores 10% of our mana every time we take a decent hit. In five man content, we don't get hit often for heavy damage, if at all, and this can cause a LOT of mana problems. In T11 it wasn't uncommon to need to use Shadow Word Death to tap your mana back up, weaving it in rotationally whenever you got below 25% mana.

Our returns also scale with int, meaning that while our spell costs remain the same, the difference between 333/346 starter gear and 384/397 raiding gear is a massive amount of potential mana restored. Other than that, using Shadow Word:Death whenever you need to move is a good practice until you can get some gear, and sniping adds to proc Spirit Tap will give you a good amount of mana back. Try to avoid using Dispersion for mana tho, for obvious reasons.
