Shaman CC : Why don't Shaman's have any form of CC?

How about the Almighty...... HEX!!
You know.. The CC.. About 3-6 Seconds it lasts... 10 sec CD... No diminishing returns.. ( Wc3 TFT - Orc Shaman Hero ) This would be awsome...!

funny how you considered shadow priest silence and mage counterspell as CC but not earthshock
and English 79, lol at warrior OP in PvP, tankadin > 3 warriors anyday (same level and relatively same gear level)

If they fixed tremor totem that'd be enough for me.
Removing FS from DR IMO makes shaman maybe the best snaring class in the game when combined with an already nasty AOE snare. If shaman had CC as well??? C'mon guys that would be way OP.
I could see maaaaaybe a talent high in the Resto tree not being OP, but thats really the only way it wouldn't be.

As for shaman being "way OP" even as resto , if you spec for it, our main heal is 2.5 seconds long. That gives a roguewarriormagepriest more than enough time to interrupt it. Earthshield doesnt trigger from DoTs. Frostshock lasts for an embarssingly short amount of time. Shaman need some form of CC. We're the only class without it. End of story, we're the only class without a PvP CC.
You should be using Lesser Healing Wave to self heal. Only using Healing Wave if you're not the focus fire target. And even so, don't use Healing Wave if you haven't juked out any silence effects. You should be using a juke heal/fake heal when fighting against a class that can interupt. Even if the interupt is improved to silence you, getting your opponent to blow their cooldown is essential, especially in 5v5 arena matches.
Also, use Lesser Healing Wave more often. Many Shaman dislike it since it costs a high amount of mana.... however it's a great heal to spam on yourself or focus fire target. It heals much more than Flash of Light.
Since Shaman have a lack of crowd control, you should preemptively find an object, such as a pillar to use line of sight while under focus fire. Even if you are melee specced, you should switch to a shield with high stamina and line of sight. Doing this successfully crowd controls yourself so that it takes the other team longer to cause damage to you, allowing your team to get their focus fire target down. A great addon for areans is "Proximo". You can figure out the other team's focus fire target and preemptively heal that target.
Kiting is part of the Shaman class, use it. Don't be discouraged by other players using macros to kill your totems because most of the time they aren't using them.
Shaman are great PvP healers, it's just most of the player base wants things handed to them. Best thing to do is know your limits. Find a mob with high hit points and engage it with low mana or low health and find out your limits.

Nice post Rvguy, but I still have to agree with a few others here that in PvP Shaman need a CC breaker a lot more than they need a CC effect. Snares are very useful in PvP, but getting obliterated over 20-30seconds of lazy stun/fear/sheep locking with no reduced effects and no way out sucks so very very bad. We're the only class that cannot get out of lock ups, or root effects for that matter.
So anyway a few suggestions for easy CC Breaker talent/spell mods long overdue:
#1 Shamanistic Rage has basically no purpose or function in PvP. It is the ONLY 31 through 41 point ability that doesn't. Check it out. Add a fear immunity or similar effect to it and our 41 talent cost 'uber' melee effect would become useful again. Yah it's awesome in a Dungeon, and pretty handy in a raid, but all the other 41 talents are useful for more than just PvE. Likely would need to increase the cooldown on it because of the immunity. By the way why does my to-hit percentage drop 20% when I click it? Someone look into that.
#2 A similar effect for Bloodlust/Heroism spell. Turn it into a Stun/Fear breaker with Fear immunity for its duration. Expensive as hell, but the coupled effects would be worth it still.
#3 and easiest: Fix the Tremor Totem pls! I've only EVER had it work on Sleep spells in PvE and Sap when I'm standing on the totem.. eventually. The pulses are too far apart to be useful. Seems to never work in PvP as I can't remember it once removing Fear/Sheep/Stun/Gouge and it can't be cast to interrupt ANY existing CC effect on the shaman, making it almost non-functional for PvP despite its listed 30yd range that it doesn't seem to have. More like 10.
CC effects I wouldn't mind seeing if they won't give us some dam lock breakers:
#1 Raise Frost Shock duration to the same as Hamstring/Wingclip would be simplest, increase its snare effect to be the same as the chainable snare functions of all the other snaring classes, or finally and I believe overpowered because of range, remove the DR
#2 Add a talent based stun chance to a spell.
Finally, just cause it needs it, fix the dam Earth Shield to go off from DoTs too. It specifies damage in the frikkin spell description so...

You could consider Earthshock as a form of CC I guess... one that lasts for 2 secs??? Wow, long intterupt/stun there... also, it only intterupts the same school or class of magic that was intterupted. Not to mention it only works against casters? On the plus side, Earthshock does do quite a bit of instant damage when it crits, which is handy no matter if its a caster of non-caster.

Darorahil, your comments are most welcomed on this topic. It's good to have someone who play's the class, and can understand where I was coming from, when I created this thread. Thanks for some useful input :D
On the positive side, Shaman's did get a bit of CC boost when 2.3 comes out. Frost Shock no longer has Diminishing Returns, which does help somewhat, although it will not rectify the whole Shaman CC situation. As mentioned before, most classes (and intelligent players playing them) will find a way to close the gap between that Frost Shock and they Shaman they are targeting.

ok, first of all . do any of you ppl against a cc or anti cc even play your shaman ? and anyone here posting about it that does not play a shaman you have no idea what you are talking about. to everyone of you that applies to . go roll one. and to the level 53 haha. level to 70 . go get stun locked for the 1000th time and come back here and talk to us then. The FACTS are , we are the only class that has no CC or anti CC . period... the reason you dont' want us to? cause we have to play hard to beat you which means we do know how to play. and if we got advantages like other classes we would own you. and you know it. if you get beat by a enhancement shaman it is because you didn't kite . how are we supposed to catch you? when you cc us and run ? we can't .. less we catch you on someone already then we run up dps you down and end of story and you come here and say oh. you guys beat me .. yeah , cause we caught you not lookin at us .. so don't come here and QQ about things you know nothing about. any shammy here saying we are ok , either rolls a rogue too or something else . Blizzard has to do something for us. we are the smallest percentage in the game. we used to be feared , now we are laughed at . a level 65 hunter can kite and kill a T5 enhance shammy . that is sad

If Blizzard removed the silence-effect on Earth-shock and gave us one more shock, like “Air-shock” that throws the enemy a distance away and K.O. him for 2 secs. Maybe they could arrange so that all shocks had a mutual CD too. It would not be very OP.
Shamans have no way of intercepting a hunter that uses concussive shot and kites you. Some talks about ghostwolf as an option to get away. That would be great to use if it had been an instant. Aghh, it has a casting time of about 6 seconds. Any class can interrupt that, or kill us while we cast.
The worst thing I know is pallys using their holy shield and healing themselves. Warriors and feral druids have charge, rogues have vanish, shadowstep and sprint and the CD on kick is not too bad though I wish you didn’t have to use energy on it, really. Mages have blink and hunters and warlocks have their pets. So everyone should be able to see that we need something new.
But you just got something, you say. FOCUSED STATE, oh yes indeed, it saves mana, but helps me in no other way.
All of our totems can be destroyed fairly easy by any class. 5 hp? Come on!!
Totems are wonderful in PvE, but close to useless in PvP.
If shamans could use plate, then I wouldn’t care if we didn’t have any CC’s.
We could even tank by using Windfury and frost shock. But of course, no, cause we probably do too much damage to be a tanking class, am I right?
Or if the Ghostwolf ability could have its speed upgraded and become instant cast or at least greatly reduced. I know you can use talent points to reduce the casting time on it but it’s just not enough.
One more thing. Shamans have so many totems it is hard finding the right one in time when you’re in the heat of battle. And you also end up using all your mana putting them down too, because everyone runs out of range and they last only two minutes.

I play a shammy and would love to have a true CC. (I missed it a lot when I started shammy as I had played a mage prior.) But over time, I've come to realize we don't need CC. It would be OP. I mean, if blizz wants to give me a CC, I'll take it, but I just don't think it is required to make the class viable or anything. Played right, a shammy already can take down most classes without too many issues regardless of spec. Sure we'll have our tough fights depending upon our spec, but doesn't every class have bad matchups? I say learn to master what we have before you start asking for more.
