I was wondering, what are Thralls and companions? And how do I get more followers, like Lydia?
I have yet to dabble into Thralls, but I believe they are permanent atronach companions, companions being individuals that tag along in your adventures and serve as helpers in combat and pack mules. Please correct me if I'm off the mark on Thralls.
Just do random quests and join factions to gain more potential followers. The Companions in Whiterun have at least 3 potential companions. Do note that you can only have one companion at a time, at least until you recruit followers into the Blades (again, something which I have yet to do).

Thralls (Puns about the greatest warchief ever aside) are permanent pets in skyrim.
you can only get those after maxing conjuration all the way to 100 and doing a quick quest for the conjuration trainer on the college of winterhold. The quest consists of summoning an unbound dremora and kicking his ass repeatedly, till he submits and gives you a sigil stone.
once this is done you can learn Dead Thrall (Permanent "Raise dead" spell) that allows you to convert any enemy slain (save for bosses dragons and highest level mobs like dragon priests) into dead slaves, and Fire Thrall Storm Thrall and Frost Thrall, which are higher level atronarchs with no time-limit in how long they serve you.
as for how to get more followers, there's always plenty in the inns, you have to do quests for the people. Also, completing the quest for the equivalent of the fighters guild (The Companions) will give you up to 5 recruitable followers, being named Thane on each city will give also a follower.

well, since on skyrim everything is scaled to your level, you can do whatever you want at whatever level you want, it really makes little difference. though trying to kill alduin at any level below 10 is suicide.
for a mage character the best armor is the arch-mage robe which you can get by completing the college of winterhold quest.
As for what you wrote on page 35, that wooden mask takes you to a special room, see, out of all the dragon priests in the game, there are 8 ones that are special, they have names, and they each drop a singular unique metallic mask, when you put on the wooden mask and are taken to that room you need to place each of the unique metallic masks on each statue.
for more information on the matter at hand,

you're about half way through the college quests, and yes it is bad to level up without upgrading your stuff because mobs get stronger while you stay relatively the same.
At least physical characters can reach the armor cap by upgrading smithing, and can have incredibly powerful weapons by also leveling smithing, but magical characters dont have that luxury, because your spells already hit like a truck, you need to develop your spell skills, get the strongest spells, and overall get as much magicka and magicka regeneration as posible.
Also, do you feel "obligated" to answer me, or you "like" to do it? Because I ask useless things :P
I dunno, I like to help people, ya know, "give and thou shalt receive" and all that stuff they preach at church xD

Restarted computer, still same problem. Won't ever get connected. Wasting my time. Can't play Skyrim because I can't launch steam. Can't change steam settings because i cant open steam without it connecting to my account. Lovely. Any suggestions?

HAHA. In order to ask steam for help, I have to create an account for their help area, and my steam account won't work. So, I need two accounts on steam. One to use steam, and one to fix steam.
Skyrim in a beautiful game, with a huge steamy pile of @#$% on its head.

Ahh I love this game. In the course of 30 minutes I killed a Master Vampire, stole a bandit's horse, executed a dragon for a local city, exterminated a coven of witches, and stumbled across a dwemer ruin.

If you can't play Skyrim because you can't connect to Steam, you can go into the Steam folder on your computer, go to to 'steamapps', then go into the folder labeled 'common', then the Skyrim folder, then double-click the application that opens Skyrim.
No. I tried that. It just launches steam.
