I can't believe it, never did I think World of Warcraft would last long enough for both me and him to be playing the same game. Despite him already being born when I started playing WoW, I did not even for a second consider the fact that he and I could one day play the same MMORPG. I always had this mental image of when he's older I'd be an important father figure, coming home in a suit and an Audi, well that never happened.
But it got me thinking, WoW has literally been around long enough to have an entirely new generation of gamers get to play it. How many children do you think were born in 2004? How old were you when you started playing PC games? Now add this to the new generation and I bet the little buggers could start as young as 6 or 7. I was a senior in highschool and kids were already playing with gameboys back then. I would not put it past World of Warcraft to suddenly get a large subscriber boost from new generations getting into it.
As for my son, he really enjoys the game. He has a unique approach to the game, one I recall having long ago, before I knew what everything in WoW was. He is really smart too, I mean, there are things he figured out himself, things I would never have known after playing for only a day.
Here's to my son replacing me as raid leader, cheers!

Neat thought. :)
I started playing WoW when I was pretty young, and that wasn't even the age of when every kid at the age of 5 or older had an iPad or a cellphone of their own (which I have seen before, mostly in airports for some reason). So it's definitely possible that the new generation would start playing WoW, though maybe not too because it's 'lame' to play something their parents played before they were even born.

Grats, must be a nice feeling.
The same can be said for a lot of games though. (Diablo being the latest)
My favourite game of all time (WoW excluded) is still going strong and is 19 years old soon.
Championship manager (Now Football Manager) has been running since 1993 (They dev team split, so despite the Championship manager game still being available, it is seen as the poor cousin of FM)
I think if any that game truly transcends the generations.
I have never played Championship/Football Manager, but I believe football is the largest international sport so I can understand why it would last so long. My country kind of overshadows football with another sport so I grew up not watching Football.

It's very possible, but I think as WoW keeps adding references to popular culture icons and events the game might captivate the youth!
It's difficult for myself to see technology revolutionizing in my time on Earth. By that I don't mean the addition of touch screen or tablets, I mean like something completely replacing or changing modern gaming as we know it. Be it holograms or those glasses that you wear and they put your mind inside a video game. I don't see 'em happening in my lifetime. But that's okay.

Don't give me ideas! I'm not even sure that's legal *laughs*, would probably be on par with botting... Very advanced botting might I add!

I can't wait until I have a little nooblet and we can play video games together. It won't happen for a while though so we will probably be playing World Of Warcraft 2. Hmm.. just thinking of all that gold he/she could farm while I'm at work... ^_^
