I don't thhink they'll make a big diff, but I am considering dropping shadow to make a second Disc spec just for healing. Or can I heal 5 mans right now with no real loss from just keeping my current setup?
To be honest, I can't quite imagine why a person would want a Disc grinding spec when he has already bought dualspec and has shadow on it. Please explain your reasoning, so that I can try to convince you that it's wrong. ;-)
1) I've seen a cooldown mod with the cds as horizontal bars
What you are looking for is something like
Cooldown Timers.
2) I have been using Xperl and clique, but ran into issues
...
Any idea on resolving these?
3) I removed xperl and tried healbot,
...
4) My biggest thing is keeping track of weakened soul. I would LOVE a big fat icon next to player frames, but all the mods seem to bury it under the bar with the billion onther buff/debuff icons. How do you guys deal with this?
My short and biased answer to all three questions:
Use Grid + Clique.
Grid is the most functional raid frame addon out there. It is also extremely compact, and can be set up in a zillion ways - you will never have to settle with something you don't like. It can be configured to show any buffs or debuffs on the person's raidframe - I for one see when someone has aggro, Renew, PW:S, Weakened Soul, Prayer of Mending, a tanking cooldown like Shield Wall / Divine Protection etc as small colored squares in the corner of the said person's frame, and any kind of debuffs dispellable by me as a BIG icon in the center of it (that screams DISPEL ME NAO!).
Clique is just an easy way to do the thing that the non-lazy people use mouseover macros for. I mean click-casting. With it, you don't have to target people at all to heal / dispel them, so it speeds up your reaction (i.e. shortens the amount of time it takes to land a heal / dispel on one of your group / raid members).
5) If I make a pure heal spec, which 2 glyphs should be first of the three (no third until 80). I'm thinking pennance and FH?
For Discipline, it's Penance and PW:S by far.
The longer question comes from a fail instance I just ran. Myself (74 disc), 73 retadin, 73 DK (our tank), 73 rogue, 73 mage hit nexus. Rogue and mage were fine, no problems at all. I killed my tank once when I lost my targeting somehow and pennanced myself (focus macro now made) -- he didn't survive the CD.
And that's why you want click-casting. When you do all your heals by clicking on players' frames, you never get into such a situation.
But I ran into an issue about halfway through a lot of the fights that I want to check on.
(DK Ret blah blah)
Thanks
You are not supposed to be blamed for retarded DPS' deaths. This includes things like staying in fire and going full-out on AOE damage with RF on. It's hard to tell whether the tank failed or not, as I haven't been there, but when I play a DPS and pull aggro I either kill my mob quickly (if possible), or switch to another one that the tank has a comfortable threat lead on, or just do something to save my arse. It's not the healer's fault - fortunately, WoW is not designed in the "All damage is healable" way yet.
