Before 3.0, execute did not scale, so at extremely high gear levels you would actually do more damage with bloodthirst. They have fixed that now by making execute scale, so no matter what your gear looks like, execute spam will be superior DPS (except for maybe doing the odd sunder to keep up the stack, that sort of thing)

To quote myself from another thread.
In terms of efficiency, execute should now always be better, because they both scale with attack power, execute doesn't do flat damage anymore.
Lets have a look at my warrior as an example.
3870 AP unbuffed.
Bloodthirst 2129 damage - 30 rage.
Execute 2230 damage - 10 rage + glyph = 2610 damage
Execute = 261 damage per rage
Bloodthirst = 71 damage per rage
Execute with 100 rage = 6030 damage
100 rage execute = 60.3 damage per rage, less efficient than bloodthirst.
It's more efficient to execute with as little rage as possible.

Also, having a weapon switch of 2 fast weapons will ensure that every 1.5seconds (GCD) you have enough rage to execute. It's better to SPAM every chance you get than to wait for more rage.
Especially now that everyone uses 2 slow 2handers, having a fast switch is valuable.
I agree, however to maximise the damage gained through execute spam you're gonna need to get yourself a couple of GOOD epic one-handers (maybe daggers? I doubt it), preferrably with 1.5 speed. and enchant them with berserking, if you can afford it.
This will ensure you can execute with as close to 10 rage as possible every global cooldown, the white dps loss should be made up in the more efficient execute spam, probably needs testing though.
