So I've been running with a Spirit Beast for a couple of weeks and yesterday I decided to do some Recount comparisons with my long-time kitty pet.
Spirit Beast didn't come up so well, even at 3 levels ahead of kitty. Kitty beat Spirit Beast paws-down at DPS in every test.
Puzzled, I did some reading and turns out Spirit Beast is, essentially, broken. Spirit Strike doesn't work properly with Longevity (cast is proper 7 secs but debuff stays on target for the full 10 and the DOT isn't cast to refresh, so there's downtime there which hinders damage), and allegedly Spirit Strike scales with Spellpower and not Attack Power (like Rake and Claw do), plus it can't crit (again, as Rake and Claw can).
I'm sure many of you already know this, so I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge in regards to this stuff getting fixed? For an Exotic Ferocity pet, Spirit Beast is sorely lacking in performance and is really not worth the taming. He looks fantastic, so I'm a bit sad to put him in the stables.
So I'm torn, should I keep Spirit Beast out to keep him leveled on the off chance Blizz fixes him, or should I just cut my losses and get kitty out again? I know Rake is getting a bit of a nerf but even still, it seems far and away the better DOT than Spirit Strike.
I guess what I'm looking for is info from people that brave the WoW forums looking for dev responses and such.

So no, Spirit Beast is still not fixed and Cat is the better choice. I thought Exotics had some sort of DPS increase or something?

they are supposed to becuase it takes a talent point to waste for them. i still think devilsaur could be buffed also.

Well, my long-time companion Humar is glad to be out of the stables and ripping the faces of monsters again.
I think he keeps giving me a smug 'told ya so' face.

To note, Scorpids are still up there with/above Cats on the PTR as well.
im going to have to get me a scorpid before i do any other instance. i have been using Humar, but i have to try them out before the patch.
