well that stinks, that little arrow is misleading :\ I thought maybe when I lvl'd more I might be able to buy more spots....
so many beast so few slots :(

There's been a great hue and cry for a system similar to the one implemented in MoP for mounts and companion pets. Since a similar setup for hunter pets would only benefit one class, I won't hold my breath waiting for it.

How would it benefit warlocks? They have a limited number of pets available (or what? its been.. 3 years since I last played a warlock to any extent)

If the new system is more efficient (in terms of either maintenance or performance), hunter pets might be migrated to it in the future.
However, if that were the case, they probably would have already done it. So I agree it's pretty damn unlikely.
