I recently got my Hunter to level 62, and after hearing all the hype surrounding Steady Shot I was expecting something wonderful. However, I'm not sure whether my weapon-speed is too slow to be useful for it. My hasted attack speed is 2.14 seconds (2.9 unhasted). I was looking under the Steady Shot wowhead item to seek advice on using it and they suggested the following macro-
/script UIErrorsFrame:Hide()
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, Auto Shot
/cast Kill Command
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear(); UIErrorsFrame:Show()
When I used this macro, my character seemed to chain-fire Steady Shots, rather than 'weaving' the two together. Is this just an illusion or is my weapon speed too slow? (Or am I using it wrongly - I spammed the macro button quickly)

I suggest that you try to learn how to weave steady shot before switching to macros.

I've tried both and this one works much better. Many people bind it to spinning down on the mousewheel.

Uhm, it actually depends on your latency if the macro clips you autoshot. the macro is easily usable if your latency is good, and plus, arcane is a waste of mana anyway.

1. I specifically have Talon of Alar, so this is an absolute NECESSITY for me to use.
Looks like using a +AP/200+AP on use trinket would be better then that.
Shot triggers a 6 second buff. Which after lag and GCD means about 4 seconds.
That's a steady shot and auto shot.
Talon of Alar is pretty much trash IMO.
EDIT: Scratch the auto shot. Apparently Talon of Alar does NOT affect auto shot. Now it's a confirmed piece of crap.

No, no, no, no.
Do not use a macro, it clips your auto shot and results in less DPS. As a raiding hunter with 6/6 SSC and 3/4 TK experience, I would know.
Follow this rotation
Steady > Auto > Steady > Auto > Steady > Auto > Arcane
Repeat until dead and weave in Kill Command when its available.
This is exactly what i do:P
