hopefully it's a good animation, right now i'm guessing it will be a green glow like +agility enchants.
Anyhow, to compare stats between this glyph and swordshattering for tanking purposes:
Glyph of the Stoneskin Gargoyle
+25 Defense skill = +1% parry, +1% dodge, +1% chance to be missed by attacks, and -1% chance to be critically hit.
+2% Stamina
Glyph of Swordshattering
+4% parry
From the gargoyle glyph, you gain 3% avoidance and 2% stamina on top of the crit immunity (if you need it). Even past being crit immune, your decision is 2% stamina or 1% parry, most tanks will go for the 2% stamina I think.

There's also the +75Sta standard weapon enchant. If you're already capped on +Def, this might be a superior option.
If I'm not mistaken, you'd need more than 3750 Sta to make +2% superior to +75. Definitely tempting...

stamina is a secondary tanking stat. Having more health doesnt reduce the amount of damage you take, it only lets you survive burst easier.
Always aim for mitigation -> avoidance -> stamina in that order.

Being the stamina *!@#$ that I am, I'm already lusting after 2x
Last Laugh
+ 2x 75Sta enchants...
Just wish it was doable. ^_^

25 Defense skill = 122 Rating, more or less.
Still pwning the total 61 rating from that hard in the face, any way you slice it.
It's Blizzard's way of slapping dual-wield tanks in the mouth and calling them Susan.
Is it actually 25 Defense
skill
from that runeforge? If that's the case... holy crap!

yea, 25 skill, which is -1% chance to be crit, +1% dodge, +1% parry, and +1% chance to be missed by attacks, on top of that it has that +2% stamina boost.
So really, rune of the stoneskin gargoyle not only helps with crit immunity but gives you 3% avoidance as well - only 1% less than swordshattering - and it boosts health.
2% stamina may not seem like a lot, but thats like adding 24 extra stamina to the weapon with my current gear, or 24 health - and it goes up with buffs.

Actually, since burst is usually what kills you, stamina is usually what I prioritize. It helps your healers out a lot since it gives them more reaction time. They may end up using more mana over the course of the fight, but that's why they gear for regen, isn't it?
You have to balance your stats. A tank that gears 100% for stamina is going to have crap mitigation and avoidance, and on most raid bosses you're still going to get stomped flat before your healers can throw you those heals. On top of that, any fight where you dont get squished you're going to be costing your healers a great deal more mana than you would otherwise, and if the healers cant make their mana last for the entire duration of the fight you're going to have a wipe.
You need enough Mitigation and avoidance to cut the boss' damage to a point where your stamina can absorb any damage he does without dying. If you gear for too much avoidance, you get spike damage and your stamina cant handle it. If you gear for too much mitigation, you're not going to avoid the attacks that really hurt; and if you gear for too much stamina you're not going to be reducing enough damage taken for your healers to keep you alive.
A good tank knows that =P
