I remember that dagger. Ah, the memories...
It's better to level as combat, or rather it's usually just faster since you don't have to worry about positioning, etc. If you wanna keep going as combat, you could always place the mace in your main hand for now. The off hand should probably be faster than the main, but you don't really have a lot to work right now if you can't afford some new weapons, etc.
See if you can find some juicy quest rewards, etc. using the filters w/ the database. It may give you just the thing you need to respec one good time.

And since you're level 49 go ahead and grab

Level 60 w/ Mutilate grants one the opportunity to gain Precision, a boon to chance to hit. This is a great talent to pick in a Mutilate build for PVE & I'm not surprised at how well Calast is doing.

Thanks for all the help fellas! I really appreciate it. After looking over what you guys said and talking with a few folks in game, I've decided to go and grab another dagger and get mutilate. Been trying it for a little while so far this afternoon and I love it! Mutilate rocks! Plus now with overkill I can rock 2 backstabs after a cheapshot! Love it. Mobs are either locked till they die (pretty quickly) or they're out even quicker. Let me know what you think for this strategy =

Ideally, I'd like to get the 5 points in relentless strikes and 2 in opportunity first, then rock out a few points in combat so that I actually hit stuff =]

Please do not use backstab nor ambush with a Mutilate build.
