As it currently is, if I search for items, the source column is not very useful. Here's an example: let's see all the 1h swords with no strength, spell damage, or defense (ie. reasonable for a rogue to be interested in)...http://www.wowhead.com/?items=2.7&filter=minrl=70;cr=51:20:42;crs=3:3:3;crv=0:0:0#0-3+1Merciless Gladiator's Slicer
is listed as "PvP". Is that arena, or honor? How many points do I need?Talon of Azshara
is listed as Drop, Vendor. What drops it? Who sells it? (In this case, there really isn't anyone who sells it, so why is it showing up as vendor-sold?)
In order to figure out how available all of the items on that page are, I have to go through and open the page for every item
. If there's only one mob that drops it, or only one vendor that sells it, that should be shown right on the search page, with a link to the creature in question.
I realize it's trickier for things like Blinkstrike
, which is a world drop. But even for that, you could do "Phantom Guest (and 86 others)". Better yet, you could notice that it drops from both elite and nonelite mobs that are at least level 68
.and at most bosses
. The mobs are in many different zones, some instances, some not, but all added in BC. So it'd be fair to label Blinkstrike as "BC World Drop, 68-73".
The checks would be: What is the level range of all the mobs that drop it? Does it only drop in one zone? Does it only drop from elites? Does it only drop from one type of creature (eg. Demons
You'd really only need to check for items that drop from, let's say, 10 mobs or more. Less than that and there's probably something specific that they have in common, so it's reasonable to just list the one with the highest droprate and mention that there are N others that also drop it.
