Suggestion: Shorter Security Codes

I don't know if I'm the only one but those codes you have to type in to post on a thread is kind of annoying. I know there essential to keep spam off the forum, but couldn't the codes just be 3 characters long?

Eh, after a 100 posts it's become sort of mindless. I just see it and wam it's in. Not that big of an annoyance really.

We're looking into different ways to use the CAPTCHA codes. We recognize that it can be an annoyance to our users, though we also appreciate its role in helping to prevent spam. We should have some changes in store fairly soon.

The current code length is fine. Five whole characters is not unreasonable.

My only complaint is that sometimes the color and line combinations become nearly unreadable, e.g., is that a "c", or an "e" with a horizontal line overlapping some of the rectangles? It would be nice to have a regeneration button next to the CAPTCHA field.

I agree - now I'm just used to putting in, it's not that much of a hassle anymore. And really, I'll be happy to continue putting it in if it keeps spam off the board.
