Hey so the new patch just came and I'm not sure what to upgrade, my friends tell me not to upgrade token items and trinkets but I don't really know anything so can you please help me out :D?

Upgrade BiS gear, stuff you won't easily get replacements, or stuff that has the most effect on your Healing/Efficiency (Weapons>Chest>Legs?) Trinket spell effects don't scale.

Ofc they do. Everything scales unless its gem (cogwheels, hydraulic socket).

This is incorrect. Upgrading the Darkmoon trinket, for example, increases both the static strength and the amount of strength granted when it procs.
Similar changes occur for other trinkets with use/proc effects.

upgrade your weapon first and foremost.
