Quick Survival Hunter question for raiding WOTLK 80s ...
Properly spec'd, you only get 6% proc rate on Lock n' Load when you deal damage with Black Arrow. However, w/ frost trap you get 100% proc rate. Has anyone considering during raids lobbing Freezing arrows into the boss every 30 secs (per CD) to get instantaneous procs on Lock n Load? Explosive shot is the lions share of a Survival Hunter's damage, so this has to be a great way to dial this up.
Is there any reason why this isnt a brilliant idea? Does it take too long to cast and aim? Does frost trap mess with aggro? Does it share CD with something else useful? What am I not thinking about?

1. Black Arrow increases all other damage you deal to afflicted target.
2. The proc rate is actually about 20% per tick. It was super stealth-buffed, but has an internal CD of 24 seconds
3. You stop DPS for freezing arrow
4. Freezing arrow can be resisted, can miss without careful aim, requires you to stop DPSing, and does no damage of its own.
This was a half-decent idea back when BA wasn't a thing. But even then, Explosive Trap is better for trap dancing.

All that said, what I personally do on fights where I move into melee (3D Sarth zerg when the firewall is right on the dragon, for example) is drop a frost trap. Frost traps WILL go off, and then when you can move (the wall has passed) you have a garenteed LnL. Dropping the trap and forcing the LnL, is IMO, a better use of a GCD than hitting sarth once with your 2h sword
