I bet we got several questions as these down the line but i couldnt find a specific answer so...
1. Does a tanking DK use a shield even tho the block is of no use ? (Btw, im pretty new ) ;P
2. Every1 mentioned a spec on each table, is there any spec (frost etc) that is better than the other when it comes to the task of tanking ?
3. Thanks in advance :P

1. DKs cannot use shield whatsoever. its not a choice, they just cant equip them, just like druids.
2. All three trees can tank, so long as you have the 5/5/5 foundation for tanking, and you are constantly in frost presence. the Frost tree is said to mitigate more damage and give more control, but it is minimal and more about player style and preference.
3. hope that helps.

you mean 5/8/5? or are you talking about imp DnD
yes they can tank without it, but i wouldn't call it a tiny boost if you pick it up. 15% avoidance is major. granted 10% of it isnt passive, but you will have it up 95% of the time. the armor talent Toughness is less needed, especially as you progress with gear and get a ton of avoidance, but again, its nice to have.
its those talent that signify a tank spec over a dps spec.

Actually toughness is one of the few talents that increases our effective health with or without cooldowns. Even if it's less overall damage reduction than other talents, it's one of the few that can consistently prevent us from being gibbed.
The 15% avoidance is also not trivial. If you're at 45% avoidance already (I'm slightly above there) it reduces your chance to be hit from 55% to 40%, which is really like reducing incoming hits by 27% (instead of the 15% it originally appears). In comparison to a DPS, imagine someone who deals 2K DPS being dropped to 1450...that's about what this would do to the boss, for 10 talent points.
