while i agree that it's not something to look for it's addition to spallpower via fel armour is far from negligible and can mount up quickly.
i sugest every lock use ratingbuster (addon) which will show how much percent youget for different ratings on gear but also, importantly, it shows how much extra spellpower an item will give.
i now look at spirit as more important than stam and int, simply because all gear has stam and int on it, just in varying amounts.

it's not useless, Life tap is a set number + 3*SPI, so that's your spirit times three, health to mana, so more Spirit means fewer life taps to get your spells out, but it's also a larger chunk of your life in tight circumstances.

if you're not using fel armour then you're an idiot or you're a pvper (i won't make the joke here ^_~)
spirit has never been a pvp stat, even for traditional spirit users, and you're unlikely to find it on gear if you're gearing properly for pvp.

spirit is good now, especially compared to the BC days but, going moonshroud is almost certainly a bad idea.
the amount of hit on ebonweave is FAR more valuable than the spirit on moonshroud. spirit is great for breaking ties between otherwise equal gear but don't start passing up real stats for it.

how about this as a rule of thumb (it's always stoff me in good stead):
don't look at white writing
if you're faced with 2 pieces of gear with equally itemised green writing, look for spirit to break the tie.
*a gem slot is worth about 20 SP or 60 spirit
*everything has stam and int on so that's not worth taking into consideration unless there's an extreme amount of stam

hardly. getting the frostwoven set does not equal stacking spirit.
it's not about what you get it's about what you give up. spirit is good but is it better than other stuff? not so much
