BTW, I hadn't seen in mentioned around here, but while running my lowbie Orc hunter through the pre-Cata quests last night I noticed that the Thrall "transfer of power" event is gone.
No Thrall, no Eitrigg - just Garrosh alone at the seat of power in Grommash Hold.

This is how I see the situation. Thrall was essentally the adult ruler, Garrosh is a child.
The older warriors and heroes of the horde, that ones who survived the previous wars, or have grown to understand whats more important then fighting, are those that know better then to follow the same mistakes of old. The ones that follow Garrosh are the younger orcs, who don't know what the previous generation lost, or care, they simply see the war and fighting and want that.
Until the horde, the new generation grows up and realises this, they set to repeat the mistakes of the last generation. But when what is basicly a child ruler commanding them to think like he does, its going to take a long time for this to happen.

Did Grom ever stop being Grom?
I have to say, the argument that 'Garrosh will mature and become a good and intelligent leader' is wishful thinking and always has been. Garrosh is set as this character he is for a reason, not so he can develop into a doomhammer or Thrall type leader, but so it will show the horde repeating the same mistakes it once did, and learn from it.
He is, after all, Thralls foil.

Garrosh is already showing hints of him learning from the elder leaders of the Horde (Saurfang and High Chieftain Cliffwalker).
He can develop into a competent leader without becoming like Thrall.

Seriously. When that girl as blizzcon asked Metzen 'are we going to get a warchief out of his guy, or just another angry hellscream?' Metzen actully made a clear point of how Garrosh's story is no way near as important as Thralls in this, and instead of answering 'Garrosh will mature', he basicly told us 'don't get attached to Garrosh'.

Did Grom ever stop being Grom?I don't know; was he Grom when he saved Thrall's life and broke the Fel Blood Curse from all orcs affected by the Blood of Mannoroth? Was he Grom when he showed mercy to Thrall, by not letting his Warsong clan members kill the human child they captured? In short...when wasn't he Grom?
Edit: In other words....comments like that are just things to set up showing a certain mind set.

Like who? He doesn't agree with Vol'jin, that doesn't mean he hates everyone else and is evil.
In fact, he seems to be maturing under the tutelage of Saurfang and the like.

He refered to Vol'jin as being no better then scum and as being no benefit to the horde. And this crap about how he showed remorse at killing cairne, he didn't, he reveled in killing him and only showed self grief for himself when he learned he was a pwn.
Interperate it however you want to make yourself feel better, but I read the shattering too, and despite your own thought on it, I did Not get a better outlook on Garrosh, infact I saw him the worse for it, him showing how truly calous he was and self absorbed.
anything else your expecting from him his wishful thinking, and I can see theres nothing in arguing the point with you.
