You know what? I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I was never sure what my single favorite book
ever
was...LotR, Catch-22, 1984 and Slaughterhouse Five were all up there. But after much deliberation, I've decided it's not any of them.
My single favorite book of all time is Watchmen. So skillfully made, such a spot-on, perfect deconstruction of superheroes, not a single character wholly good or evil, all at a level you can sympathize with but most still @#$%ed up in some way to remind you of the insanity of their "profession"...it's just absolutely perfect. I can't think of a single thing bad about it.
Also, a Song of Ice and Fire is on its way to this spot, but I don't want to definitively place it as a series until it the whole thing's written. Here's to hoping George R.R. Martin picks up the speed a little, lol.

Speaking of book sites, you guys may want to check out
this one
. Basically you list books for "sale" that you no longer want. When someone "purchases" your book, you get one credit. Then you can spend that credit to get a new book of your choice. No money involved. I'm sure all of us have a few books laying around that we don't want.

Reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X. First autobiography that has not completely bored me to death.

I like:
-"The Seventh Tower" (The fall, The Castle, Aenir, Above the Veil, To Battle, The Violet Keystone). Its a sick piece of work, enjoyed them really. By Garth Nix
-"Harry Potter"
-"Alex Rider" (Stormbreaker, Point Blanc, Skeleton Key, Eagle Eye, Scorpia, Ark Angel, Snakehead), Anthony Horowitz at his best.
-"The Shipwrecks of The flying Dutchman", (The shipwrecks of the flying dutchman, The Angels Command, A Voyage of Ships), not pretty well known books, but they're simply glorious. By Brian Jaques.

Ah, I remember those books! Good ones, although I've only read up to Skeleton Key. It's been too long.

So I just finished Stephen King's Under the Dome... excellent book, ranks up there with Cell and the Stand for me. Definitely worth the read.

That book's been sitting on my bookshelf for a while, I suppose I ought to give it a read now.

Those books are influential to every person who has been through 6th grade.

Lets see, I remember a couple more.
1984
20,000 Leagues under the sea
I read the Harry Potter series and feel like a nerd for it.
I never read twilight.

I've been reading "The Dark Tower" series by Stephen King lately... through the first 5 books, and it is a very entertaining read thus far.
Wolves of the Calla was probably my favorite. (Maybe Wizard and the Glass, because I love knowing more about the Gunslinger)

I've been meaning to read the Dark Tower series, but I already have to go through Gaunt's Ghosts (at least up until book 7, the last one in the Saints omnibus) and 2 Hellboy graphic novels. I'll start working my way through after that, I think.

I actually just started Cell, but to be honest I don't like it too much.

I don't mind zombie novels. What gets me is that he just throws the main character in there without actually setting up much, if any, backstory. All we know is that he is a married cartoonist, and you don't even hear what age his son is until like page 60 or so.
