First, the winners are selected randomly, using
http://random.org. I'm sure you've all experienced the phenomenon where your iTunes playlist plays the same album four tracks in a row even if it's set on shuffle, or you run Shadowfang Keep a million times and those damn robes never drop. The same is true here. Random is
random, not evenly distributed.
Second what constitutes a spam account? Any account that was created just for the purpose of entering the contest?
If we assume that every account EVER created on Wowhead is an active user, and that no one ever registers more than one account (which I don't), even then only about 5% of Wowhead users have ever bothered registering. When I started working on Wowhead, I didn't have an account either. We try and put together contests that give everybody a chance to win, not just the hardcore Wowhead users. Random is the only way that's really fair. There is no DKP for Wowhead. :)

It was nothing like that.
It was that I was afraid I made my comment too late in the day.... not sure what time zone you were using to judge the end of a "day".
But I'm one of those caffeine in the IV drip, 2am is only the start of your day type of people.
People are always going to join up 'just for the contest'.... heck, I myself am semi-guilty of that.
