Tips For Heroics
Return to board index
I'm having a hard time with these new heroics and looking for advice. Main problem is my Felguard dies way too much. Has this thing been so nerfed to heck that it needs to be resummoned multiple times during fights even trash fights? I try to keep it on the tanks target and I do not use the whirlwind ability unless I know its safe with no CC'd mobs around. Try to get an add of a healer? Forget it cause my pet will die in a couple of hits.
What gets me so frustrated is I also play a hunter and do not have these problems. My tamed pets stick to their targets and do not somehow take tons of damage like the felguard does. I've even considered trying out Destro to stay all ranged but that is the last thing I want to do. All I ever see is destro on my server so I'd rather not join the masses if you know what I mean.
Your pet is not a tank in heroics. If your healer is getting attacked, tell your tank to step up his game. Turn off Legion Strike if you are CCing mobs; he will break them out and then get killed quickly. Don't use felstorm if you are CCing as well.
As for survival, you just need to learn better pet control. Keep him on passive and macro /petattack into a spell that you will only use on a target you are killing (I have it on Immolate). Demo has extra points, you can afford to put them into Demonic Rebirth if it is that much of a problem.
The one fight that I wouldn't even bother trying to keep him alive on is the second to last boss in SFK... even when I spam follow and run around the room during the poison mixture phases my pet dies several times during that fight =/

I know it will feel wrong, but try using a Succubus glyphed, the damage is pretty good, and in my recent experimenting, I have actually seen her outdamage the Felguard on single target. On Aoe fests you can switch back to Felguard.
Having an extra CC to throw around isn't so terrible either.
i can confirm that.
succy > FG even O.o (single target)
