So, my question is this: why is all the Priest love gone? It seems like two or three weeks before I hit 80 every guild on my server was recruiting Priests and now I don't see any even looking cross faction/sever. Has anyone else noticed this?
*I'm not referring to casual raiding guilds that are still trying to clear Ulduar. I'm talking about progressive 10/25 ICC ready 3day+ guilds.
*shrug*
I haven't been looking for a guild lately, but almost everytime I PuG, someone asks me if I'm happy with my current guild. Simply run 25 man PuGs while unguilded and do a good job, someone will end up noticing you and giving you a trial run with their guild... Try your luck on week-ends and monday nights, when guilds are the more likely to be down a healer, while absolutely wanting to get a run completed before raid reset on Tuesday...
There's no reason anyone should stop loving Priests, we do something no one else can do, which is Priceless... Heck, I remember when I first started my (Dwarf) Priest, I'd get in every Ony run I wanted because of Fear Ward which was a big thing when only Dwarves had it on a 30s CD, back before Alliance had Shamans... Then, it kept going with Moroes in Karazhan, where people often needed Shackles for CC... Then in Naxx, with Razuvious fight, where we were the only ones who could MC... And nowadays, it's MITIGATION. 10k mitigation+healing done without CD (save for WS debuff)... Priceless.
If random PuGs won't do the trick, look up guilds you'd like to join and simply ask someone from that guild to talk with an officer, don't wait for them to go "Recruiting, we gotz bank tabs omgz!" on Trade chat, ... :P
I still feel the love everywhere I go. :)

I suspect that your mid-level gear is what is holding you back more than a lack of love for priests in general. Perhaps it is just your micro-cosm that seems to have a lower number of priests. In fact, almost all of the most well-known healers in my realm are priests.
oh, and Harmacy, I transferred a toon off of Vek'nilash the day transferring became available. Perhaps we played together at some point? ;-)

Oh, well, don't worry about it, once you get the gear, you'll find a raid to heal...
Having a Hunter in a raiding guild will also help, unless your guild is really full on Priests, but then again, you never know when someone might quit the game or something... When I joined my current guild (which invited me after I PuGed Naxx with them, back then...), I was around the 10-15th best geared healer, 5th or 6th Priest (including SPriests) in that guild. Fortunately, as mentionned earlier, I'd get invited in their 25 Naxx every week and did a good enough job that I was put on progression raid ahead of better geared people. Long story short, I'm now the best geared healer in my guild, by far, with a near 100% progression raid attendance. I saw an opportunity to get invited into a decent guild (mostly casual / mature / friendly, but with a dedicated core) and took it and never looked back. Then I did my best to impose myself as the best Priest around and succeeded.

Well gee, you make it sound so violent and brutish.. Like a caveman getting the woman by the hair.
I prefer to think of my healing like a symphony of good healing choices. Even people who don't otherwise appreciate good classical music from time to time might notice how excellent it is and pay a compliment. In other words, I like to think of it more as
inspiration
than forcing.
You EARN your reputation as a good healer. don't expect it to be thrust on you because of your class and spec!

If you're referring to priest recruitment a few months into the current expansion the reason might be the raiding content of that time.... Naxx25
required
priests (once they hotfixed all the hunter / mage strats ;D). And for a while it was kinda hard to find priests newer to the game that could handle Mind Control in a raid setup. Most hadnt had any experience doing it... and those that did / were good at it, likely were already in guilds... ;p

And just a clarification, I don't look at /trade advertisements since I know as a former guild officer that it always brings out the trolls and the nuubs. These observations are made from looking at guild website and realm forum recruitment posts.
Now this isn't necessarily true. I interview and then have an application process for most of my fresh guildies. I also review each of them for a period of 3 weeks before making them a member. Until then, they remain as an "initiate" and understand that they have lower priority on loot and raid spots. I get a lot of excellent players out of the trade channel recruiting, especially since I have a guild that raids at odd hours.

That's how I heal and that's how I f..., hmm, wait..., I think I like your "inspirational symphony" comparison better, actually.
