Rogues would always start in Stealth, since it's their key ability; however, a Rogue shouldn't whine if you get him out of Stealth before he engages. After all, it's his job to get to the target without being 'detected'.
So what you're saying is, that in a bg match, say, you're playing a hunter. You're ALWAYS expecting a rouge to pop up. You ALWAYS stand on top of a flare, and stay in that spot the entire round. You ALWAYS know that there's a rouge coming.
The problem with duels is, you KNOW the person is there. In a real situation, sometimes a person may sneak up on you, giving them the element of surprise. In a duel, you KNOW you're about to fight someone no matter what. You're ready, you're jumping around try to avoid the rouge, you've got your shield up already, you're doing everything you would you'd normally do in a real battle.

There is one thing wrong here. In the bgs you know gonna have to fight. So your alert all the time just in case you get jumped. If a hunter on Def in any BG will have track human and if the spot disappears, they know a rogue or a druid is coming. Therefore, flares go up and traps go down.
That goes with any class really. A squishy wont sit still if jumped. A hunter will get out of melee and into range. And melee will find a way to get into melee so they can go to work.
Comparing a duel to pvp is a weak arguement

Fine, if the Rogue can't know that he's just about to duel my Mage either, I'm fine with that premise.
Besides, that's why it's called duel. Plus, even in BGs, most Rogues don't roam around in stealth all the time, thus you can see them stealthing sometimes, or hear the sound, or even see someone get Sapped, and you know what to expect.
And don't tell me it's hard for a Rogue to Sap 'n' perform an opener on someone jumping around, or a hunter with Flare or even a trap set. I just have the right to get the Rogue out of stealth if I manage to.
That sounds about right. As a rogue if you want to close the gap in a duel, do one of two things. Sprint or Shadowstep. Not a SS rogue, than sprint. Sprint+gouge at the start allows you enter stealth, sap, than follow thru with ur rotation.

On my realm, they just forfeit as soon as this happens.
That's like going all the way to work thinking you won't have to do much, then getting told there's something that came up that you need to deal with. So you turn around and go home.
As for duel rules, imo anything goes.

If you ask me, making up unwritten rules just shows how much of a QQer you are. Have you guys ever noticed that it's always the losing side that comes up with these silly rules?
Blizzard put it in the game, use it. They make the rules, not you. Don't like it, don't duel.
"OMG he used a healing potion right before I was about to kill him!"
Well, why didn't you?
"Because I fight with honor!"
Honor? In a videogame? Lol, this isn't 15th century Japan.
If my opponent has the presence of mind to use a potion while I am pressuring him with DPS and CC, and I don't, then he deserves to win.

The only thing off the top of my head that I frown upon is chain fearing someone out of the duel zone....
Yeah i agree with this. I forgot that a simple, annoying and effective, CF can cause that. Most locks have a win by the 3-4th link in the chain thought

Lame as it is, Ive seen it done. The message that pops up says you lose if you dont return to the duel zone with 10sec, i think, im not sure.
Works like this. Lock, or Shad priest, finds the edges of the DZ, and lures their target to the edge. Useless against ranged pvpers lol.
Lock: fears, if trinket, Death Coil, re-cast fear, than any slowing effect or keep linking the CF
Shad Priest: same principle only they have to go out of the zone, fear bomb, and slowing effects.
Its cheap, but Ive seen it

But if one really considers this a win, then he's a big fail.
It does happen, though, even when not deliberate. On my Mage, I frequently root people outside the duel zone because I'm busy kiting them and don't notice how far away from the flag I am. But never do I consider that a win, even if they're frozen and one shatterbomb away from losing.
Good point. Im sure many of us dont look at that as a win.
