I'm unsure, since I think that swapping weapons will reset your swing timer, you may do more harm than good.
But if you're like in arenas with the healer at 25% and you instantly swap to shield and SotR to get him into hammer range, it could help.
A good idea as well would be to do this when your 3 buttons are on CD (DS, CS, Judgement), and your AoW proc is up. When you swap to use SotR, blow your AoW proc (with a spellpower mainhand).
Seems like alot, but squeezing out every advantage is never the wrong choice.

Yes it is a good idea because it gains from all your AP and crit and it goes through armor.
In short, warriors, druids, deathknights and other paladins are open to the damage.

As a holy pally I crit for like 1200 - with no strength or BV.
I plan to stay holy, but as a Ret paladin with a ton of strength I could see this critting for quite a bit. Any Rets out there wanna test? <3

I crit for like 4500 with Shield of Righteousness.
This skill really doesnt apply to retadins because all of their dps comes from wielding a 2h weapon and not a 1h plus a shield.
Plus the dps you do with a 2h weapon will far outdo the amount of damage you would do with Shield of the Righteous.
Sir if you read the post this would be done during cooldowns on our 3 abilities, and with a macro so that you could switch back.
Perhaps, if you're as new as you seem, you'd be interested to find out that you can switch weapons during combat?
