Warlock weapon question

Hi,
I am levelling a Worgen Affliction Warlock and I'm unsure as to what weapons I should be using. Is he better off with a staff or with dual one-handed weapons of some sort? I ask because I am approaching being able to buy Dignified Headmaster's Charge with my Darkmoon currency on another character but I wasn't sure if that was an optimal choice for him. Is that a good choice or a waste of tickets?

Any general advice regarding Affliction Warlock weapons, or specifically that item would be much appreciated.

Hi,

For leveling you'll probably be better off with the staff. You can't dual wield one handers. You could use a one hander and an off hand item, and many people will at max level, but in my opinion I'd buy that staff for leveling.

Like Alareia noted, while you level it doesn't matter. At 90, you're better off with MH/OH instead, for that extra little bit of spellpower/int.

I don't recommend purchasing an heirloom weapon on a caster though, unless you have currency to blow... the stats from it are so minor. This is different with melee because the DPS stats on the weapon are always best-in-slot, but for a mage or warlock, you really only need the +int that it provides. You're just as well using quest greens or drops from LFG.

Well, I decided to go for the staff. I spent Darkmoon Faire tickets on it rather than JPs so its ok. It does have spellpower on it so I'm hoping that it will outclass green and blue drops for a while at least. Hopefully I've not blown it.
