Weapon skill questions

After always finding myself in melee as a Hunter, I realized that maybe I should roll a class closer to my preferred playstyle: a warrior.

Two questions about weapon skills:

1. Is it worth it to try to level every possible weapon skill as I level, or should I just focus on keeping a 1H, a 2H and a ranged skill up to date?

and 2. Will the answer to question 1 be drastically changed in a week after patch 2.3? I'm assuming that weapon expertise will level much as weapon skill, but perhaps someone who's dinkied on the PTR will have more insight.
