You pet keeps dying? In Karazhan, you shouldn't have to worry much about your pet. Most of the bosses are fairly pet-friendly. Fights like Nightbane and Maiden may require the occasional retreat/mend move, but other than that, there isn't too much. Of course you have to watch out for Shade's Arcane Explosion or Prince's Infernals, also.
If you want to spec for trapping, then go for it. Trapping in Kara isn't as crucial as it may seem to be, but you will need to trap at points.
Here is a Marksman spec that you could use for good control of mobs. The Entrapment talent will work wonders on Moroes' and some of Shade's trash for example. If you want to go Beast Mastery, shoot for
this spec. Or maybe a full
Survival spec.
Note that many other Hunters will want to move X talent points into Y talent because of Z reason, but these are fairly basic and can do well.
But like I said, trapping isn't a
huge deal in Karazhan. Shackling and off-tanking will be happening to most of the extra mobs. But since you want to go into an improved trapping spec and you don't feel like DPS is an issue, then these may be for you. Feel free to ask more if you have any other questions.
