I expect everyone to perform their role to the utmost of their ability. The tank can maintain enough threat on all the mobs in the pull to keep them off the healer (and preferably other dps), the healer is able to heal everyone enough that they don't die, and the dps can kill the mobs in a timely manner without pulling aggro from the tank or from another stack of mobs a not-too-short distance away.
I also expect (as the tank) to be the one who sets the pace. If the dps pulls out of impatience while the healer is still drinking (unless it's something purely accidental like failing your sap), I am always tempted to just not bother taunting the mob off you and let you die before taunting the mob off of whoever is next on the aggro list. It's something I haven't done yet, but you don't want to risk it.
I also expect everyone to know the fight. If you've never been to this instance before, then say so when I ask everyone if they've all been to this instance before. If you haven't been to this instance before, then when I tell you what this boss does and what you have to do, you have to
listen
to me and actually do what the boss requires you to do (usually, it's either "kill adds" or "move away from this or that") I hate the second boss in Oculus not because he's difficult at all, but because there's always at least one person in the pug who doesn't understand that you have to move out of the goddamn lightning despite me telling him 3 times to move out of the goddamn lightning.
However, I will
not
expect you to go beyond your role and start healing if the healer dies or d/c's or something else, though you would be considered a bloody legend if you did do that and it actually worked.

Very nice post.
Back in the healing days, I also had a damage meter installed. And my healing priority after tank and my self was highest dpser.
I was healing on paladin without any aoe healing (pre-3.0). So if everyone is taking damage, I would just make sure to keep the highest dpser alive if some dps had to be sacrificed.
If one dpser is underperforming, make sure he's healed last.
As a current tank, I can't stress enough that dpsers should attack skull first. Normally it's sufficient to dps what tank is targetting, but sometimes tank switches target to get agro on other mobs, and you don't want to target that mob.
If you are a DPSer that can AOE, than make sure you are fortunate enough to have a tank that grabs all mobs and lets you aoe safely. But if you're not with such a great tank, don't do it.
Everyone in party should look around and know other's limitations. If the tank or healer is undergeared, use cc when you can. If DPS is undergeared, concerve mana on boss fights, don't go OOM in the middle.
If you are overgeared DPS, you're likely used to a much better tank, watch agro, be prepared to dump agro - don't wait for taunts.
If healer can't keep up, take a health pot.

There is a bit too much to say to be really specific for me. I expect people to :
- be smart : this includes knowing your character and his abilities, perform well in normal circumstances or at least show the ability to learn from comments and improve, adapt to changing situations, researching things or being able to understand rapidly explanations that are given, learn from their errors, accept comments from others (be they right or wrong, and telling them that), ...
- don't be annoying : yelling against other people, being smug and condescending, causing drama, afking for long times, quitting the instance once you get your loot, ... all those are things to avoid. Note that you can be nice and tell people that they aren't pulling their weight and end up kicking/quitting if things don't improve. Being nice doesn't imply being everybody's bitch.
- know what you are there for : you are part of a group effort, not part of a "i am god-chosen and the other 4/9/24 people are here to allow me to get what i want".
If those are good then the group should work perfectly even if not optimised. And that's the reason why i mostly don't pug. There are very good surprises at times, i won't deny it, but more often bad surprises.

I would add that the tank does not always have to be the leader. Regular groups may have their typical leader and he might be DPS or a healer. In a PUG I've gathered a group and since I organized it- I took the responsibility to lead as I healed with my balance druid. It was good to keep control of the pulls because I was working out of my spec and needed to control my mana flow this included replacing my MT mid run with a late addition of a feral druid. No one complained that I replaced the tank- because it was for the good of the group.
A good leader is key and it can be anyone.

Nice post, I agree with everything...
I really hate when I'm tanking and some dps is pulling all the time... and I even hate more when I pull group and some DK use death grip to get one of the mobs to him cause he's lazy to run little bit...
I would add something about running after wipe, similar to waiting for summon...
I just hate when whole group wipes, everyone go to run to instance, just one lazy guy stays there and shouts "res me, res me"!
Its healers mana and healers money to buy water to ress you...
