any profession works well for you, there is a sticky at the top showing the benefits of each one in the xpac. Also one thing to note as always gathering skills will net the most money for you and each provide a small benefit now

I currently have herb/alchemy on my Mage.
The buffs help a lot and if I need some extra cash, a quick herb gathering excursion usually pays well on the AH.
Mining is also very good for quick cash atm. The lower level ores and stones are selling very well on AH due to all the DK's finally going for their main profession.

honestly skinning is something that i have thought about picking up for the crit bonus on my mage
