Often you will be supplied with a quest to take you to a new area. Your might want to quest in Ashenvale through Darkshore.

Pretty much. Most areas have some quests that have you deliver an envelope or something to introduce you to higher level areas. Some of these quests are only available if you complete a series of quests or reach a certain level.
You can also try checking out the database here to find zone levels, like for
Eastern Kingdoms
and
Kalimdor
. You have probably surpassed any real benefit to questing in Darkshore, unless of course you enjoy doing all the quests, so you can move on to Ashenvale or other similarly leveled zone.
