Ok
I LOVE playing AV (61-70) but i always turn in blood (for rep) and no one bothers to summon the boss. I turn it in mid game and sometimes horde is losing. My team doesnt bother to summon it even though they are being facerolled but cant the giant rock guy be a huge help? Did they do it in TBC? Did people with 10k hp exist back in the days?
No the boss was not summoned often. yea he can be a decent help, but not as game shattering as once was. And there were TONS of people with 10k HP back in the day. Mercilless Gladiator Gear (S2) was bought with honor towards the end of BC and every1 and his brother had @ least 4/5. With that gear most classes saw 10k hp on that alone. Very geared pvpers were closer to 20k

The games are so short these days that no one does those little side things. They don't award honor, and usually prolong the game. I think they were only popular in classic WoW. People tell me the games would go all day, so you had time to summon the big guy, air strikes and pikemen/wolfriders. But in BC it was the same as now: Get all the towers and kill the boss before the other side does.

As many of the people who played Vanilla wow remember games of AV didn't end in hours, but in days. I read somewhere and it was really true. "You can start an AV then exit and go to work and when you're back home you can still go and play the same AV"

it was fun... sort of
towers, balinda, had no purpose and were killed only for the extra honor, or not at all. most of the time the horde just mass afked and we won, but there was also a lot of those big long battles... ah, good times... good times...

It was better in TBC. Horde actually used IB choke point.
Now av simply means run past opposing side to enemy base. May as well be a pve thing.

before 2.3 it was awesome.
long battles, the whole shebang.
of course there was times where it was bad, but it was much better than the 5 minute zergs today.
