When a friend laughed at me when I told him I'm a player, I immediately asked him why and he just choked up and said he didn't really know.
People like to make fun of anyone that's not exactly the same as they are. DnD, wargaming, computer players, smart people, with or without reason. As Adamsm said, just smile and ignore them.

I reply with "How much can you bench?" Then i can usually follow up with, haha your weaker than a wow-playing nerd. Or in the unlikely event that someone can lift a decent amount, "and you claim i have no life?" That wins all arguments.
