When you have to pug heroics

I play a mage and have a pretty good friend who is a resto shaman. We generally run together. We have a tank friend, but he is leveling an alt with his girl friend so is unavailable. In the guild we have plenty of level 80 DPS, but have a serious tank shortage. So on any given night we are usually two or three DPS and a healer looking for a tank.
Last night we ended up having to pug one DPS and a tank for heroic VH. In this case a DK turned up. Off we go. We wipe on the first boss because the tank doesn't coordinate the group at all. The healer suggests some corrections and we restart and down the boss on the 2nd go around. We get to the 2nd boss (in this case Ichoron) and wipe. Too many elementals keep making it back and we keep getting tossed out of healing range. The tank leaves followed immediately by the pugged DPS.
So we advertise for a new tank. We pick up a bear tank and a rogue and decide to do the daily (heroic UK). The tank is almost 100% epics. The rogue shows up late and needs to repair. We roll through UK pretty smoothly the only CC the tank elects to use is sap. We wipe on the first boss because people "forget" to crack the tombs and the healer and I get entombed and we die. The healer reminds everyone to break the tombs and the rogue replies "would have been nice to know". So we down the boss second attempt. The rogue somehow manages to pull two groups of mobs and a patrol and we wipe.
We get to the second boss. We wipe because of poor placement. The key with this group makeup is for everyone other than the tank to be in chain healing range. The rogue starts to berate the tank about tactics which were the ones that I've seen successfully beat this fight every time. We try again the rogue decides that we're not going to make it and vanishes with the boss at 5%. We wipe, the rogue plays the "I told you so" card to the tank who decides he has better things to do than listen to an idiot and leaves.
My now deeply discouraged friend the healer tells me, "Guess I'm done with pugs."
Pugs - first a tank that does poorly and we fail. Then a great tank who is driven off by a random DPS. End result a 27 gold repair bill, 2 badges, and now I'll have to pug a healer too.

1 month into the expac and everyone already feels they HAVE to run heroics. Honestly you have 80% of those people demanding to run heroics only every day that have no business even going near one.
It is an easy job to rely on the tank and the healer to pull you through the place, heck most even the tank doesn't belong. Where this mentality came from I dont know. It sure wasn't like this at BC launch.
Poor players stressing out healers and failing , all lead to the current healer shortage. I know I would never run a PUG on my healer. I do however still run regular pugs , but no way in hell would I try to heal a party of clowns in a heroic. I only do heroics with the A Team. Top notch players from my own guild and it is so much easier and less stressful. PUGs are the fail.
Go back to regular instances or get your own group.

key element in succes for pug in heroics is amoury ppl b4 inviting them/ joining their party.
pvp gear, no enchants/gems, bad spec => all a no go. i probably will miss out on a lot of good runs that way, but i'll probably evade most of the bad ones at the same time.
ps. don't only armoury tank and healer, dps have the same responsability to gear up. not even the best tank/healer combo can make a pug work if boss enrages, party get's overrun with adds etc.
