Having leveled 70's on both a PVE and PVP server my own personal choice is PVE . The only upside is world PVP on a pvp server can be fun at times . If your trying to farm and then you get ganked all the time it really blows . I hardly find horde travel alone on PVP servers and always attack you together so you have no chance . Anyways won't ever go back to a PVP server to much of a headache especially when people camp the entrance to instances just to be %^&*s .
edit** Also those answers above are not sound at all because you can flag yourself at anytime on PVE servers . So technically you could have all the PVP you wanted even on a PVE server . I have attacked plenty of people who run around flagged thinking they are cool . Personally I find it is griefers who enjoy pvp servers knowing they can go kill low levels and make someones day miserable .
Your answer is not sound at all because flagging yourself for pvp means nothing if the opposing faction does not do the same. Uninteresting to me.
I can understand how people who want to might frown.. actually sorry not frown.. more like scream and cry at the idea of a nice hardcore playstyle where you're at the mercy of your enemies and they are at yours.. (wow what a concept that you can be hurt by and hurt your enemies).
I'm glad I'm not that type of player. Seems boring and very softcore.
Oh and the reason why you can't transfer from pve -> pvp is quite simple. Blizzard doesn't want to reward a half-assed leveling effort with the same reward earned by someone who put their whole ass into the leveling process.

Thank you Nekokun. Its not whiny carebear that makes me say these things. I've been on PvP servers and I stuck it out to 60 pre-BC. I joined my friends on a normal server and won't go back. If I want to PvP, I'll go to BG or Arena. But walking back to my corpse every few minutes because a group of 5 is camping my corpse isn't fun. You like that kind of thing. Great. Thats your thing. But don't attempt to judge my PvP skillset when you know nothing about me or my playstyle. I choose normal servers because I like leveling in peace. When I want to level my fishing skill, I don't want to worry about some bozo 2-hitting me because he happens to be walking by. To me, that constant edge of your seat, oh crap when are they gonna hit me, style of play isn't relaxing. And in the end, I play to enjoy myself.
Oh... and for the purposes of this discussion I went out and leveled to 15 yesterday on Darrowmere, a PvP server. No sooner did I leave Auberdine and clear the guards than a 63+ rogue BSed me. Thank you Armory for that info. So, ummm, yeah. You enjoy getting ganked and then turning the tables. Me, I'll still say that if you go out and kill something 10+ levels below you, you have no skill. And in the experiences I've had on PvP servers, very very very little of it was among comparable levels.
Your server might be different. I don't know.
Nah it's probably the same. People like you are laughed at on it.. and every other server.
Imo it takes more skill to kill someone 10 levels below you than a mob that's the same level as you. Lol. No joke.
Armory doesn't state the level of the player in "X+" form. It tells you the exact level of the player.
And to say we can't judge your pvp skillset from the fact that you hate pvp is actually quite wrong.
It's pretty safe to say that you suck at pvp. That's fine. You chose pve because you suck at pvp. Not because world pvp is stupid or because ganking is stupid. You simply do not have the ability to play on your feet. Blizzard understands, respects, and caters to this. And you're fine because you have arenas and battlegrounds. The fact that your arena and BG play is on a significantly lower and less-optimized level is just because you're not a pvp'er.
Admit it's not by choice though.
