I agree that there needs to be some advancement in the game. I originally came from City of Heroes, which attempted to show some progression with the redesign and reclaiming of several of its zones.
I was upset when friends who attended BlizzCon told me that Blizzard's stance is, "Yeah, we've got this old stuff - but we're not going to update it, we want you to see the cool NEW stuff we've done." New is good - but I feel there's still a lot of stuff they could fix and improve upon in the current content at the same time.

just general background stuff that the old timers can talk about and tell the n00bs "i remember when they were still fixing that inn in westfall...."
There are enough things for the old-timers to "talk about" without changing the scenery, including, but not limited to:
-"It's too easy for all these newbs to get epic gear"
-"Welfare epics were the worst thing that ever happened to WoW"
-"Epics are ruining the game"
-"These newbs running around in their welfare epics..."
-"Getting rid of attunements was a bad idea"
-"Arena epics are too easy to get and ruined the game"
-Etc.

Do understand the enormous amount of time and effort it would take to update all of the old world stuff and make it more recent.
Blizzard makes new content because they want to give players more to work with at 70, 80, whatever. It makes no economic sense to revamp a zone you see for maybe a day or two.

Blizzard treats the game like an unending book that every player gets to read. For example, if one were to pick up the book at a later date, it shouldn't be any different just because someone read it earlier. This gives new players the opportunity to experience the story, but forces older players to re-read over and over again until new chapters are added.
I think it is good, at least for the sake of the story being told, but consequently the world feels less dynamic when nothing ever changes.

The reason stockcades doesn't have good drops is because since it's right in SW, level 70's could farm is very easy since its easy to get to plus it's small.

Nope. That argument doesn't hold up when you look at Ragefire Chasm.
It may be slightly larger in size, but honestly at those levels it's not going to take that much longer for a 70 to farm one than the other.
RFC has two guaranteed blue drops, whereas Stockades has none; RFC is actually a lower level instance so it would be argueably faster for a 70 to clear out (and it
is
farmed by 70s who are just picking up Enchanting for DE fodder); and both are smack-dab in the middle of capital cities.

The reason stockade has crappy drops is because it's a prison. It's not full of tooled up warriors etc it's full of convicts who have no way to get tooled up. Hence they don't drop shiny lewt.

Games aren't realistic. I mean how many times do I have to save princess Toadstool in order to let her marry Mario ;(. How many times do I need to slay Ganondorf before he realizes Link is alot better then him!
Anyhow, it would be pretty cool IF stuff would age with the time it's there. I mean they implemented the weather, so why not slowly aging or something ^^. Then again someone mentioned it's like a book, those never change either :).

Think about it this way:
You make a new character, new account - you are 100% new to the game. Such things (the Westfall inn for instance) allow you to experience the same thing the players experienced 3-5 years ago. Normally, as the hero you are, you'll see the repair crew, note that they are there, go get the zone rid of some bad guy and move on, forgetting about those minor things. When you are preparing to battle Lady Vashj, you hardly think about the past.
I can see your side of the argument, but it's not a "must". Plus, some things do age - characters mainly. Small things change in fact.

Saying anyone of those things doesnt make you an "old-timer"
Try these
- "I remember when i grinded for my Valor gear"
- "I remember when there was no "honor system", battle grounds?"
- "I remember the opening day of the AQ instances"
- "PvP ranks FTW."
- "When MC was the Only raid, 40man raids ftw!"
Sad thing is I would so say all of those things :)
40 mans ftw! I really do miss them and pvp ranks.
