Well, some things do evolve. For one, M'uru isn't in the Blood knights base in Silvermoon city since 2.4

I would rather see Blizz put time and effort into Wraith of the Lich King than ANY old-world Wow content.

I disagree... Whether people only spend a day or two in old zones, it would be nice to see it updated over time. Blizzard spends a lot of time building new content, rather than updating/upgrading old content. People say Blizzard spends all their money on adding new content, rather than upgrading, but thats bull*!@#. Blizzard makes $15/month, from 9 million players... you do the math... You aren't going to tell me they are spending ALL that money, and don't have extra money to revamp the game...
If the starter/newb zones had been updated with 2.3, I never would have seen them. (Started playing WoW in Dec.) So basically, the new subscribers get gypped out of the classic content. No thanks.
As for your amazingly poor grasp of business, here's a crash course:
-Blizzard writes software to make money.
-They operate WoW to make money
-Some of the money from subscription fees go towards paying for the network, servers and programmers who make WoW run. A network as complex as WoW always has something broken. It's just statistically impossible for anything with that many parts to operate at 100% capacity at all times.
-So, after covering the operating expenses, we also have to pay the software development people to make the game and the expansion packs. They have to to be paid pretty well, otherwise they go off to work for some other company that pays better.
-Lastly, the company has to profit. See reason #1, "The goal of running a business."

very few players would notice the change... that is, only those with too many alts. i'd rather blizz spent resources on other improvements.

rude
i am a player that is what i would like to see
anyway - a book is not what i am playing here - this is a vast computer code - its not "chained" down to a page - and the inn at westfall has been broke for years now lets fix it already
get some interns to work on it
and yes i do believe they are spending a lot of their money on staff for maintaining the current world - there are bugs all throughout the game on all sorts of different servers - it takes a village of ppl probably just to maintain things the way they are and deal with ingame issues -
and also like the characters in and around stormwind that somebody mentioned - move them out and bring in new ones - they are simple bots right?
idk - just an idea - just showing my love
You are a player, but you're only one player. This means you do not always get what you want. Learn to live with disappointment.
The code for Westfall was written years ago, and it's not broke. It's a starting area that all new human characters go through as an intro to WoW. In WoW, as the guy in the intro describes it, your people just got done with a war not too long ago. Things need fixing.
In fact, the inn in Westfall is good metaphor for the WoW network; it's a repair/maintence job that will never be 100% done. Hey, the programmers slipped in a hidden meaning!
Lastly, where do the changes end? A brand new player starting today will have to roll on a server where no one has downed Illidan yet, if he wants to see everything in the game? Or, will that be applied network wide? That crazy German raiding guild will down Arthas about 36 hours after WotLK is released...OK, show's over, everyone go home!

"and the inn at westfall has been broke for years now lets fix it already"
You being unhappy with some element of the game doesn't mean it's "broke".

First off, they make a great share of money... roughly $135 million a month... $15/month x 9 million players... That's 1.6 billion dollars a year... So if you think they aren't making enough profit, then you need to open your eyes... Yes, I'm sure they are paying a lot of money in development, technical issues and so on, and I'm sure they have a great amount of employees making great money... But for a company to make $1.6 billion a year, and for people to defend Blizzard by saying what you just said is just dumb. With that amount of income, there is no reason, NO reason, Blizzard should have
problems making a huge profit and still being able to revamp old zones...
Blizzard sells entertainment. Period. Their product is a frill, not a necessity. To this end, it is imperative that they maintain a large cash reserve to keep the company solvent in the event that something unpredictable or beyond their control occurs in the market of entertainment that would adversely affect their income stream. What if they devote large chunks of their revenue to a new product that completely bombs? Ask Sega about that, or Nintendo (before the Wii was released, or Atari, etc).
I do however agree with you that new players may not see the content old players have seen... But I do believe that back ground items need to change and be updated... Maybe then old players will go back to old zones, rather than having 1000 players at the new island... Players are going to go where new stuff is, not where old stuff is that they've seen before...
I ask again, what would be the point of revamping content in the introductory zones? Elwynn Forest exists only to give new players a starting point. This is why new zones/dungeons/raids are introduced; to give the players that have been around a while something new to do with their high-level characters. I can see that you're frustrated by the fact that seemingly every level 70 character is always on the island, but that's what happens when something new is released.
Another thing is... With the release of BC, why would they only make like 8 new zones... All shared by Horde and Alliance... was that a money issue as well... or was it just greediness by Blizzard's part... Make 8 new zones that both factions can use, and save a bunch of money on designers and programmers... It just seems unfair to me... I've been paying $15 a month for the last 3.5 years, and the only thing to look forward to is new content that EVERYONE will share, rather than having new content for each faction, and upgraded content for low level zones...
Again, why? Once you got past the intro zones in the pre-BC world, all the zones were shared by both factions. What's the point of creating an entirely new intro area for people with high-level characters? If you're tired of getting ganked when you level up past the "safe" zones, there's a solution, and it's called "PvE/Normal servers." I play on one, so I know they exist. If you want new content that exists solely for your entertainment, there are also single-player games from other companies that you are free to enjoy.
Oh, and Blizzard should do some type of customer appreciation... a discount would be nice, or some free items for long time players... I mean they give new players 14 free days... What do the current players get...?
Blizzard's "customer appreciation" comes in the form of rates that haven't increased since the game was released. Find another product that you can say the same thing about, I dare you. The internet connection that you use to connect to WoW? I don't know about you, but my cable company keeps jacking up their rates without adding any new content. Meanwhile, Blizzard releases a new patch that adds a lot of new content, but costs you nothing. Did they increase the rates when TBC came out? No. Will they increase the monthly fee to play the new content when WotLK comes out? I doubt it. (This, by the way, goes right back to the "where is all that profit going" question in the beginning of your post.)

phil i am not talking about revamping - just tweaking some of the little things in the game - just aging some of the background items in the game
its pretty clear that you dont want anything to change ever so pls stop posting on this thread - we understand that you are totally against this - okay? pls move on already
I'm all for change, if it's an improvement. Otherwise, what's the point? If you want a change of scenery, move on to the next zone. If you run out of zones, create an alt on the opposite faction and try that. There are plenty of things to do besides sitting in Goldshire watching some guys fix a roof.

but this is pointless - you cant win a #$%^ing contest with a prick
Don't I know it...
Rather than call me names, why not explain how revamping the intro zone for level 1-10 players will have a positive impact on old players, while at the same time not detracting from the experience of someone playing WoW for the first time?
